(Excerpt: The Presence- The Presents)
Anne La Monte writes about just one of her many faith healing episodes in her book that Cynthia Meyers-Hanson co-authored.
Even though, the time of day made it April Fool’s Day, the doctor looked her straight in her eye saying, “If we can’t stop your bleeding, you will be dead by the end of the day!” The announcement was not followed by laughter and a clever line about how this hospital visit was all just a bad joke. That would not be funny, anyway! Unbelievable thoughts raced through her mind as Anne heard, “This fever must break before you can receive a blood transfusion. Without it, there is not much hope!”
This news shook Anne to her soul. She finally heard that her bruising indicated internal bleeding that might kill her. When lunch arrived, she nibbled not feeling any urge to eat. She felt some contentment but she could not rest or sleep, either- not right away.
About three in the afternoon, two women from her church came in and gave her communion. They asked Anne to pray with them, which she did. All of the sudden, tears rolled down the patient’s cheeks. She sobbed as they continued praising. Soon, she heard Father Joe’s shuffle coming down the hallway.
The two women greeted this priest at the door informing him, “Our sister in Christ is crying but we do not know why!”
He entered the room as the two women left. Anne failed to speak due to her emotional state. Without delay, the priest started anointing this sick parishioner. As his healing hands moved over Anne’s forehead, again, with God as her witness, her body felt on fire. The tears really flowed through the prayers of this man. Without uttering a word, she remained mystified as he finished his sacramental blessing then left her hospital room.
Near the end of his blessing, she stopped crying. Anne felt a comforting “presence.” It lulled her into very sound sleep.
She failed to awaken for supper. After midnight, as the night nurse took her vitals, Anne finally spoke asking the woman, “Can you change this bedding and my gown? I am soaking wet!”
Her nurse recognized her, “I remember you from September of last year. I remember your heart’s irregularities spontaneously healed last time you visited us.” Then, she helped change this patient as well as the sheets. As she finished her tasks, the lady added, “I believe you broke that fever. I can call the lab technician to draw your blood. You may be well enough for that transfusion but the blood count will be studied before that procedure. I have a good feeling about your blood work.”
This nurse winked at Anne because this medical worker believed that her patient received blessings and presents of healing from a Supreme Source.
Anne felt very comfortable falling easily back to sleep. About four in the morning, she heard a male voice calling her out of slumber. The face of her technician became less blurry as she opened her eyes. Another familiar face; he drew her blood in September.
“Mrs. LaMonte?” He looked shocked and amazed to see her back.
“Jock, is that you?”
He asked, “How do you know my name?”
Anne answered, “When someone is as patient as you trying to find veins, your attitude remains a great memory especially when you had to use one directly connected to my heart. When you mentioned that only a few people are permitted to use that vein, how could I forget you and your gentleness?”
“So you remember me?”
“Yes, you introduced yourself by name back then. You are from Jamaica, right?” He shook his head smiling while completing his current task.
About a half hour later, the night nurse returned with a huge smile, “Just as I suspected! Your internal bleeding stopped; your blood count is back to normal. There is NO reason for a blood transfusion!”
This woman shared the secret of this healing with Anne but soon others would hear the good news- the God news.
After hearing the test results, Anne let out a sigh of relief falling back to sleep while feeling very content! Voices interrupted her rest. While making rounds with the entourage, the mentoring physician reviewed her blood results. As she remained drowsy, he listened to her heart. He announced to the interns, “This patient arrived with internal bleeding due to unmonitored Coumadin. For some unexplained reason, her bleeding stopped when her fever broke. A technician drew blood a couple of hours ago; her blood count returned to completely standard range. A scheduled blood transfusion became unnecessary.”
Pleasantly pleased, these resident interns and their mentor talked very softly among themselves while shooting strange looks Anne’s direction.
Did her spontaneous healing stump them?
She heard versions of mind over body, power of positive thinking over healing, and some blessing and thanking of God’s redeeming power. Before she fully assessed the outcome and affect on these medical people, they all moved on to their next patient.
Anne felt just as amazed and astounded. She sincerely believed that she- once again- witnessed the faith driven power of healing. She firmly believed that her reliance on God and his angels brought this supernatural cure. In her opinion, His angels sustained her as His priest bestowed The Lord’s therapeutic force upon her ailing body during the sacrament performed.
“To have the supernatural world pick you up once you have fallen is the greatest feeling; everyone should be blessed with this experience!” Anne spoke these words often after her second, miracle cure- if you don’t count the natural ones from medication after her breast cancer, which would place this count at four including her resulting staph infection. She wondered if there might be a limit to how many times God presents the gift of healing to one soul. She felt remarkably blessed. Her spirit praised God for sending the priest, twice, with His gift of renewed health.
Soon after these curative experiences, Father Joe’s advanced age and his illnesses got the best of him. The priest returned to his Connecticut seminary. There, he died. She wondered if this soul knew what a special talent and privilege he was to Anne’s world.
His simple everyday blessing- the sacrament- transformed her life. She wondered how much he knew about his present. Anne thanked God for his visits at the hospital as well as for the comforting “presence” in her room.
Julie recapped some highlights of her aunt’s journey. Life never stays still. Things are always happening. Some surprises are great such as the miraculous healings. Some revelations are more about the greatness of this world. Anne’s cancer and subsequent infection went away with medications and faith. Her irregular heart and bleeding healed with Divine Intervention and the prayers of a priest.
Just as she thought the worst was behind her, eight strokes hit her...

(Excerpt: Through the Storms HE Performs)
by: Wavie Green & Cynthia Meyers-Hanson
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. (Jeremiah 1:5)
While in the coma, Wavie had glimpses of life here and life after death. As she healed from the near fatal accident, this saga was about to get better! This human being spent time in an intimate conversation with God through several situations including but not limited to visions, dreams, and prayers.
In this twilight zone, somewhere between life and its finality, while near death’s door, Wavie hovered for fourteen days. Those that witnessed the accident on that stormy, summer day- people that witnessed the recovery of her body from the car believed the woman died. Others reading the news in the paper or viewing the tragedy on television felt the same way; she appeared to be dead or dying. When they discovered she lay unconscious at a local hospital, many flocked to visit this accident victim before she departed. A few people remained permanent images in her comatose mind.
One of her daughters believed the same way as most of the witnesses; Angela knew her mother died. No one could convince her otherwise. The girl suffered psychologically from the trauma of the accident falling into a depression. Her dad, Thomas, decided to bring the girl to her mother’s bedside. When he did gain permission to escort his little girl from her hospital to the one housing her mother, the comatose parent felt her daughter’s presence; heard the father-daughter conversations; and reached out to her child spiritually.
Without fully exiting her comatose state, she was acutely conscious of her child’s suffering. Wavie felt as though she spoke her daughter’s name- aloud. Even if no one else heard her speak, apparently the little girl responded to the call of her mother’s soul as Angela’s spirit quickly healed after that visit. The Comforter did the job, and the child walked out with her dad feeling better. Whether or not the patient’s voice echoed in the hospital room, even if there was a lack of verbal communication, a debate becomes a nonissue because the child’s soul healed at the sight of a living body housing her mother’s very aware spirit.
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
On another occasion, during those two weeks, one of her brother’s wives moved into view as she entered the hospital and then waltzed into the machine filled recovery room. She heard the clicking and clacking of machines charting the patient’s course. That day, her spirit moved her to arrive at the hospital and to pray with her relative. Thus, she held her sister-in-law’s hand while praising Jesus in spite of this family’s misfortune. Then, she left her loved one in God’s hands. The spiritual exchange comforted both women; Wavie totally experienced this prayer session. She felt as though they communicated with or without directly sharing a conversation. The visitor felt better, in spite of the fact that her Heavenly requests and thanksgiving appeared to be a monolog, because His Spirit comforted both souls.
Hearing the news of the tragedy, one of Wavie’s high school teachers arrived; the woman knew not too many people had this very special name. The lady believed unwavering that the soul she’d encounter would be her ex-student, and this instructor felt she needed to tell the unconscious individual about her feelings and prayers. The teacher knew the special gifts of the comatose human chatting as if talking to herself; looks can be deceiving because they communicated on some level. While in her twilight state, Wavie discovered that she could still reach people spiritually and be in touch with her visitors. Most left healed of their sorrow for her plight.
Another memorable encounter included a doctor. When she moved to the recognition that he sat nearby, she joined in his vision. His prayers included knowing how to fix her broken body. She knew instinctively that this man hoped for God’s healing power where the medical man felt he’d fall short. There were miracles during this healing. Thus, he might have been praising God- for thus far!
Finally, the worst thought included her unborn child. When some of the medical staff felt that Wavie would not survive and they discussed it around her, she felt her spouse suffering with the decision to pull the plugs. This event would hinder the life within her along with their unborn daughter. As Thomas grappled with the decision, she felt he knew her choice would be to save the child even if they kept her artificially alive to buy time for the baby. This man hoped for a son before this event; now, he simply hoped to save two lives and mend this family.
Her heart knew his anguish and made the decision for him; she decided to rip the lifelines on her own. Wavie believed she could control the situation by yanking her own wires and tubes that were sustaining her physical wellbeing. To her psyche’s amazement, the lines she severed were the ones pulling her to the afterlife.
On that fourteenth day after the accident, while holding his dear wife’s hand contemplating the best and worst of this situation, Wavie stirred from her deep slumber. What a relief Thomas faced when instead of pulling the plugs, the man got the privilege of uttering, “Welcome back!”
In an instant, this man knew the decision to keep their unborn child while hoping for his wife’s safe return was just right. Meanwhile, the depth of her new perspective arrived back with her as she exited her comatose state. Not everyone awakens with such joy; some people’s destiny pushes them to their life after death. However, this person had a purpose not yet fulfilled and a large task ahead of her; she returned on a mission from God. He would direct her steps along life’s path from that point on.
Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth. (Psalm 86:11)
In those two weeks she spent seemingly alone behind the veil of unconsciousness, crowds paraded through her hospital room as if they were passing her corpse in a coffin during a viewing. When Wavie felt their presence, she possessed an acute awareness of their pain and suffering. Many times, she felt the confusion and misery in the hospital room. Sometimes, the comatose lady smelt the stench of death. When she thinks of it now, the stink might have been her own mangled and decaying tissue. In spite of her inability to control her flesh, her spirit moved with each encounter while fighting the odds to survive.
During those days, her Lord gave her the best love she ever felt. The level of adoration was not from the man holding her hand upon her return to this life instead she found her truest love in the clasp of her Maker’s hands. From the moment she returned, the Creator of Heaven and Earth presented her with the gift of knowing His Will over her own; that sense of direction remains to this day keen and heightened in awareness. The face of the man she loved would fade from her daily life but the image of God would reside with her forever just within her soul’s reach.
When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:8)
